Access Self Storage aims to fill empty storage unit
with Easter Eggs for The Felix Project
Access Self Storage customers urged to donate chocolate eggs and fill unit the size of a red phone box for The Felix Project
Access Self Storage launches its annual Easter Egg campaign, with a completely empty storage unit. There is hope that the appeal this year will see locals donate eggs to completely fill the empty 2.5m2 – similar in size to an old fashioned red phone box - storage unit, in aid of The Felix Project and alongside FareShare.
To fill the container, which is approximately 9ft high and 3ft wide, the team will need to collect around 200 boxed supermarket Easter Eggs…with any extras spilling over into a larger unit.
Access Self Storage is working with The Felix Project alongside FareShare, the food redistribution charity fighting food waste and hunger. With 1.5 million adults in London alone struggling to afford to eat every day, 400,000 children are at risk of missing the next meal, and whilst the Access store teams realise that an Easter Egg isn’t going to solve the wider issue, the teams across the UK unanimously voted to collect for a food charity this year.
Thousands of Easter Eggs have been donated by stores local communities and customers since the collections began in 2011, and in 2024, 34 Access Self Storage stores located around the UK will be collecting for The Felix Project and FareShare. If every store fills its 2.5m2 container this Easter that’s almost 8,000 Easter Eggs that can be collected, all to be distributed to those in need, locally and across the UK.
Jan Albert Fourie, General Manager of Operations at Access Self Storage commented, "Its so important for our store teams to work closely with their local communities and to be able to help those that will really benefit from this collection. Our aim is to fill our storage units over and over whilst this campaign remains open and if we can collect 8,000 Easter Eggs this year we know the teams and our charity partner, The Felix Project and FareShare will be so grateful. If every customer donates just one Easter Egg throughout this campaign we can smash our target and make a huge difference.”
Staff have already begun collecting eggs and donations can be made at the store between 1st March – 25th March, ahead of the charity collection and distribution in time for Easter.
Since the Access Self Storage Easter Egg Appeal launched in 2011, more than 8000 chocolate eggs have been donated to dozens of charities across the UK. The aim for 2024 is to double this!
