Modern, secure self storage units in Sydenham
Sydenham was once home to the Crystal Palace. The incredible glass and steel structure was originally built in 1851 for the Great Exhibition in Hyde Park, but it was moved to Sydenham in 1854. The palace was reconstructed in Sydenham Park, which is now called Crystal Palace Park, and hosted exhibitions, concerts, conferences and sporting events… until it burned down in 1936. Fortunately, the park is still open to this day and just as lovely as it was back in the 1850s. If you have some deck chairs for sitting in Crystal Palace Park that you need to store during the colder months, consider an affordable, clean self storage unit at our Sydenham storage facility.
Maylow Park is another wonderful green space in London SE26. Complete with a bowling green, play area, and multiple cricket pitches, it’s the perfect place for some outdoor activity. The park is also surrounded by some of Sydenham’s finest cafes, which are the ideal place to stop for some tea or coffee and cake on a summer afternoon. If you need somewhere to keep your cricket bat, helmet and gloves outside of the cricket season, consider one of our cheap storage units. Our staff will be happy to help you find the prefect size for your needs.
Sydenham Hill is also home to The Horniman Museum of anthropology and natural history. Frederick John Horniman inherited the family’s fortune from running the world’s largest tea business, and he used the money to travel the world collecting cultural artefacts. He opened the museum in 1901 to store his impressive collection of taxidermied creatures, historical musical instruments, and other treasures from around the globe. The museum grounds include a spectacular view over the city of London, and a number of listed buildings. If you get a little carried away at the gift shop or have a burgeoning collection of your own, consider a storage locker at our nearby Sydenham branch.
